Research that protects our natural resources is pervasive and
prominent at the University of Maine. As the state's land-grant
institution, UMaine is committed to addressing those issues that affect
citizens' quality of life and the future of Maine. Helping protect water
quality, studying the habitat needs of wildlife, understanding the
dynamics of the Gulf of Maine and ensuring the health of forests that
dominate the state's landscape are all part of UMaine's multifaceted,
multidisciplinary approach. The result is research related to natural
resources that makes a difference in Maine — and beyond.
