Video Text: Anatole Wieck, Professor of Music, School of Performing Arts, University of Maine: "Pop music is a little bit more like a newspaper--something that is very important today. But classical music is something more like Shakespeare or Dostoyevsky--something that lasts over the centuries. Classical music is something that connects all the societies throughout history. Another thing is that the kids do know pop music. This is something they are already very familiar with, and classical music is something that they are not. The kids that are learned in the program, now they know both."
